Firing Up with the Crafts Council at Birches Head High School

I was delighted to be invited to run a clay project at Birches Head High School as part of the Craft Council's 'Firing Up' initiative. This scheme aims to revive the practice of ceramics in schools as an invaluable part of arts education with much cross-curricular potential.
Year 9 students researched their family histories and recorded links with the local pottery industry, informing a series of transfer-decorated tiles and a collaborative sculpture.
